Cost & Time Scale

Costs
The annual membership is £30:00, £3.00 per meeting and £10.00 for a manual. There will be about 21 meetings a year at Croydon Speaker’s Club and there are a number of new ways you can pay.

Payment Options:

The standard way: membership fee + £3:00 per meeting.
Monthly direct debit: 12 payments of £7 which means you get 3 meetings free!
Pay as you go: £5 per meeting attended.

For new comers, your first meeting is free, then after that you pay £3.00 per meeting and pay the membership fee or go onto the pay as you go scheme.

Timescale
The ASC programmes is made up of 10 assignments. To complete all 10 assignments varies depending on your desired timescale and the size of the club. Typically you will complete your masterpiece within two seasons but if you want to go at a slower pace there is no pressure to complete the programme.

This timescale can sound a little long for someone with specific goals. Do not fear! You do not have to finish the programme before you speak in public. Within 8 - 12 meetings you will be well prepared for specific speech engagements.

However the long timescale is a powerful feature of ASC clubs. In short, it takes time to take in your new skills and get them burned into your belief in yourself. Just as riding a bike has skills that become natural, so it is with speaking.

The ASC's Season
At Croydon Speaker’s club we start our year in September and go on until July. We meet every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. Click here to view our diary
There is no best time to join except now. You start your own programme and you dictate the speed of your development. You work to the programme laid out in the manual. There is no club curriculum timescale, only your own personal one.
This works well as it means that many members are at different levels within the education programme, making evenings more interesting and allowing newer members to get a glimpse at what is to come.
